2020 Pinot Noir, John Sebastiano Vineyard
Sta. Rita Hills
"A step up, the 2020 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano Vineyard comes from a site on the eastern side of the Sta. Rita Hills. It has a smoky nose of ripe red and black fruits, spring flowers, and underbrush. This carries to a pure, vibrant, focused Pinot Noir with good acidity, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's one of my favorites in the lineup." JebDunnuck.com, 93 Points
"The 2020 Pinot Noir John Sebastiano is a wild, potent wine. Black cherry, game, tobacco, licorice and gravel add to an impression of burly intensity that is reinforced by the potent tannins. The JSV feels stressed today, either because of the heat of the year or its bottling about two months before this tasting. Vinous, 90 Points
"A combination of whole-cluster fermentation was used in the 2020 John Sebastiano Pinot Noir. Aged for 16 months in 32% new French oak barrels, it boasts rich and powerful notes of red and blue plum, mountain boysenberry, black licorice, fennel seed, cedary herbs, and loads of yummy earthy notes. Tannins, acidity, and structure are all in check and carry the wine to a lengthy fruit-forward finish. Approximately 620 cases made. " International Wine Report, 94 Points
