It’s hard to know where to start with these new releases, as they are exceptional from top to bottom. The Pinots are probably the most impressive wines, as they emerge from a year that had a fair amount of challenges. I was struck by the expression of site in the Pinots, wines that tend to offer notable purity of fruit. Whole clusters are used as accents rather than a central part of the winemaking philosophy. The 2019 Rhônes, which were in barrel when I tasted them, are perhaps even more promising. And then, there are the whites, which are savory, nuanced and full of character.
